1914-2015 We are now entering a century in which I am most familiar. The people and events are not obscure or hard to relate to because this is the century in which we live and have familiarized ourselves with. Our grandparents remember almost the entirety of this century. We know the presidents, the terrorists, the movements, the social setting of this chapter because it is so recent that we have taken for granted all we know about these years. Some of the events that have unfolded in the 1900s are still current events. This is real, it is where we are as a species and the things that happen are tangible and fresh and still have scars on those who have survived through it all. The modern era is a humanistic era Humanistic statues, realistic and studied In paintings subjects are people, ordinary people developed perspective philosophy ,questioning, human agency, democracy all developed in mass in the modern era Was the renaissance a good development? yes because technological and social progress, we live in america, we are a product of the renaissance no because the changes were forced, created a hierarchy, mass genocide and devastated ecosystems no pro outweighs/justifies the cons of colonizing the americas
